Kicking Out Time....

Breakfast was delivered at 8am, and Dehalvi came round shortly after for his morning prod and poke of Amanda.  'You can go home today.' he told her, she looked surprised.... Amanda told me she didn't really want to leave her 'boob' behind.... she didn't want to go home without it.  She had agreed for it be donated to science, to help future 'evil boobs' get back on the right track without having to be removed fully.
I'm currently sitting in the hospital chapel.....
a quiet room with chairs, a make shift alter and a rainbow coloured rug hanging from the wall... along with a  biblical abstract piece of artwork, behind the makeshift alter (a tweaked table from IKEA I reckon).  It's quiet, that's why I'm here.  The nurse was coming to remove Amanda's drain, this sent her into a spiral on anxiety and fear.  Intense head and forearm stroking was required..... the nurse was to return with the tool box in 20 minutes.  As Amanda drifted in and out of consciousness (out of sleep, if the fingers of either hand stopped stroking for a time period of more than 4 seconds), trying to relax, trying to deal with the terror and anguish of the drain being removed, I worked the stroking magic.  The paracetemol and codeine would slightly dull the sensation of the needle being removed, tinkering the nerve endings as it departed the axillary.  Amanda's worries were not so much the pain, it's always the build up to the pain for her.  It's so difficult seeing fear and anxiety in her pretty little eyes.  The nurse is also going to redress the wound, and Amanda didn't want me to see it yet either, her head will be pivotted around, as far away as possible from the fresh needle work.  I am heading back to her in five more minutes, hope  she is ok.  She will be, and the pain under the armpit will be less once the drain is removed.  Shortly I will have to go home and bleach the house from top to bottom.  Robyn informed us that she has cleaned the bathroom, which means I will only need to spend about 20 minutes in there, as opposed to an hour!  Thanks Rob, it is appreciated x.  Ok, heading back.  Catch up later.
